The beautiful stranger julia london pdf

Then a crime will force Kerry to flee with Arthur to England — where a challenge to their love could drive them apart forever The final installment of London's Victorian-era Rogues of Regent Street trilogy following The Ruthless Charmer explores the consequences of living recklessly. Dashing Lord Arthur Christian, the untitled son of the Duke of Sutherland, is attempting to make reparations for his misspent youth. Consumed with guilt over the untimely death of Phillip Rothembow, his friend and fellow rogue, Arthur determines to go to Scotland to settle a debt accrued by Phillip when he invested in a failing cattle farm.

In stead, Arthur finds himself lost in the Highland woods, where he meets Kerry McKinnon, a beautiful and resourceful widow who is struggling to save her farm. Arthur is strongly attracted to Kerry, but he finds that winning her heart is easier than winning her hand; Kerry must wed the dim-witted son of one of her creditors or face eviction. Although Kerry and Arthur are well-drawn and engaging characters, the story is muddled by poorly developed secondary characters and a cumbersome plot involving land-transfer, tenant eviction and villainous aristocratic neighbors who will stop at nothing to resolve a debt.

London's writing is smooth, and the sensuality quotient here is high, but the book stumbles to a hasty conclusion. Then a crime will force Kerry to flee with Arthur to England - where a challenge to their love could drive them apart forever They are great a diversion, but they do all tend to run together before they are forgotten.

This story, even though it is an RR, is different from the rest in many ways. It breaks from the formulaic plots. Sure, it eventually arrives at the ton, but it takes you on an enjoyably wild and harrowing ride before it gets there. I liked the leading man more than any other. I also liked that there was emphasis on simpler pleasures and not so much on the manufactured enjoyment of London society in those days. They had nothing else to do. This story has more grit.

I have to give her props for soldiering through them, though. Another wonderful book by Julia London. Kerry a widow about to lose her lands, encounters Arthur and accidentally grazes him in the arm when she thinks he is stealing from her. They have a heck of a time trying to get back to her home. When Kerry is evicted and the accidental kills Moncreifs son, she runs with Arthur to England.

When she realizes Thomas is accused of the crime she leaves Arthur to save Thomas. Can Arthur gather evidence to save the woman he loves. A great story and excellent Narrator! I felt that my intelligence got insulted with that ending. Having said this, I admit I am a Julia London fan and believe overall this book was a well-written book if you can overlook the ending.

There was always something about the plot or the character that just felt so unrealistic. This one I enjoyed. I could relate to them and also felt them falling in love.

The heroine annoyed me from the beginning. She has nothing, could do nothing, but insisted she knew everything! She did not use her wits at one time!!! Sadly the narrator, while possessing an excellent accent, lacks any ability whatsoever to find a range of emotion in her narration. Skip to content Close Menu Contact. Diamond in the Rough is the dark and dangerous world that I love from Skye Warren. Now he faces his darkest challenge: the possibility of life without Holly Frank.

This spring she is determined to embrace blue skies and new beginnings. Robert D.
