Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. If you want to go back to windows 7, you have to revert to your old install, this can be done within 30 days. You can't install windows 7 over the top of windows 10, well you could but you would likely see issues. I have done both a clean install and a Vista to Win 7 upgrade with this disc. There is another instance when this is useful and that is when loading a ghost image created on slightly different hardware like a different brand or size of hard drive.
Sometimes a Win 7 Repair works quickly to adjust to slightly different hardware better than other versions and sometimes it doesn't work. With previous OS I could reinstall on top of the ghost image to re-detect hardware without damaging the image, but this Win 7 disc won't do that. BTW: With no other brilliant ideas I finally removed a wireless networking card I had in there which has been working fine and moved the network connection back into this room to wire this computer directly, and it started up.

The others normally freeze the screen when getting into Windows with just a blinking cursor in upper left-hand corner. This error suggests that you might not be installing the version of required for Win Me but instead are trying to install a version intended for either Windows or XP.
Is it possible that your problem in installing has the same cause? That is that you are using the wrong version of the patch? You were correct on my having the wrong versions of the patch. How it occurred, I don't know.
